Acne Treatment in Gaur City 2, Greater Noida West
Treat the cause, not just the spots.

Acne is treatable at every grade, but the right plan depends on what kind of acne you have and what is driving it. At Lavanayam an MD dermatologist examines your skin, grades the acne and builds a plan around it — medical treatment first, in-clinic procedures where they add something.

What Is Acne Treatment?

Acne develops when hair follicles become blocked with excess oil (sebum) and dead skin cells. Bacteria that normally live on the skin (Cutibacterium acnes) multiply inside the blocked follicle, and the resulting inflammation produces the whiteheads, blackheads, papules, pustules and — in more severe cases — deep nodules and cysts that people recognise as acne.

Acne treatment is the medical management of that process. It is not a single procedure. Depending on the grade, it may involve prescription creams, oral medication, in-clinic chemical peels, comedone extraction or light-based treatment, together with a home-care routine that keeps the skin barrier healthy. The aim is to clear active acne, stop new lesions forming, and reduce the chance of marks and scars being left behind.

Adult acne is common in India, and acne on darker Indian skin tones (Fitzpatrick types IV–V) carries a higher risk of post-inflammatory pigmentation once lesions heal. That is why treatment here is planned with pigmentation prevention in mind from the first visit.

What Can Acne Treatment Help With?

  • Blackheads and whiteheads (comedonal acne)
  • Red, inflamed pimples and pus-filled spots (papulopustular acne)
  • Deep, painful nodules and cysts (nodulocystic acne)
  • Adult and hormonal acne, including acne linked with PCOS
  • Acne on the back, chest and shoulders
  • Enlarged, congested pores on oily skin
  • Dark marks left after acne (post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation)

Key Benefits

Treatment chosen by an MD dermatologist after examining your skin, not a generic package
Targets all four causes of acne: oil, blocked pores, bacteria and inflammation
Reduces the chance of permanent scarring by controlling inflamed lesions early
Plans built for Indian skin, with pigmentation prevention included from the start
Prescription-strength options that are not available over the counter
A written home routine, so what you do between visits actually helps

Who Is This Treatment For?

Teenagers and adults with acne of any grade — from a few persistent blackheads to severe cystic acne. It is also for people who have tried over-the-counter products or salon facials without lasting results, and for anyone whose acne is leaving marks or scars. Where acne appears alongside irregular periods, unwanted facial hair or weight change, the dermatologist may suggest blood tests or a referral, because treating an underlying hormonal cause changes how the acne responds.

The Treatment Process

1
Consultation and grading
The dermatologist examines your skin in clinic, grades the acne (mild, moderate or severe), asks about triggers, previous treatments, medication and family history, and checks for early scarring or pigmentation.
2
Medical treatment
Most plans start here. Prescription topicals (retinoids, benzoyl peroxide, azelaic acid or antibiotic combinations) and, for moderate to severe acne, a course of oral medication chosen for your case. Doses and durations are explained, with the side effects to watch for.
3
In-clinic procedures where indicated
Salicylic or mandelic acid peels to unclog pores and calm inflammation, comedone extraction for stubborn blackheads, and intralesional injection for large painful cysts. These are added to the medical plan, not used instead of it.
4
Home routine and follow-up
A short, realistic routine — cleanser, treatment, moisturiser, sunscreen — written down for you. Follow-up is usually at 4–6 weeks so the plan can be adjusted as your skin responds.

How Many Sessions Will I Need?

Acne treatment is a course, not a one-off. Medical treatment usually needs 8–12 weeks before its full effect is visible, because it works on lesions that are still forming under the skin. Where peels or extraction are part of the plan, 4–6 sessions spaced 2–4 weeks apart is typical.

How long you stay on treatment depends on the grade and how your skin responds. Once the acne is controlled, most people move to a lighter maintenance routine to keep it that way. Your dermatologist will give you a realistic timeline at the first visit rather than a fixed number of sessions.

Downtime & Aftercare

  • Prescription topicals can cause dryness, mild redness or peeling in the first 2–3 weeks. This usually settles; the dermatologist will tell you how to ease in.
  • After a chemical peel the skin may look slightly pink for a few hours to a day. Light flaking over 3–5 days is normal. Most people return to work the same day.
  • Use a broad-spectrum sunscreen (SPF 30 or higher) every morning. Sun exposure is the single biggest driver of the dark marks acne leaves behind on Indian skin.
  • Do not pick, squeeze or scrub lesions — this is how marks and scars form.
  • Avoid waxing, threading, scrubs and other active products on treated areas for the period the clinic advises, typically 5–7 days after a peel.
  • Keep your follow-up appointment even if the skin looks better; stopping treatment early is the commonest reason acne returns.

Who Should Avoid or Postpone This Treatment?

  • Some oral acne medications must not be taken during pregnancy or while trying to conceive, and some are unsuitable while breastfeeding. Tell the dermatologist if any of these apply — safe alternatives exist.
  • Chemical peels are postponed if you have an active cold sore, open wounds, a recent sunburn or a skin infection in the treatment area.
  • If you have used oral isotretinoin recently, some procedures are deferred; let the clinic know the dates.
  • A history of keloid scarring, or of allergy to any ingredient used in peels, should be mentioned at consultation.
  • Acne treatment does not remove existing pitted scars. Those are treated separately — see Acne Scar Treatment.

Frequently Asked Questions

Most people notice fewer new spots within 4–8 weeks of starting medical treatment, with clearer improvement at 10–12 weeks. Severe or cystic acne can take longer. Marks left by old acne fade more slowly than the acne itself clears.
It can, particularly in the late teens and twenties when oil production is highest. That is why treatment moves to a maintenance phase rather than simply stopping. With a simple ongoing routine, most people keep the improvement.
Yes. Acne is most common between 12 and 25, and treating it early reduces the risk of scarring. Treatments and doses are chosen to be appropriate for the age, and a parent or guardian attends the consultation for anyone under 18.
Diet does not cause acne on its own, but in some people high-glycaemic foods and dairy can make it worse. If your history suggests a link, the dermatologist will discuss it. Cutting out whole food groups without reason is not recommended.
Usually yes — salicylic and mandelic acid peels are specifically used for active acne. The dermatologist will decide the type and strength after examining your skin; very inflamed or infected skin is settled first.
Acne treatment clears active acne and helps the flat dark marks fade. Depressed (pitted) or raised scars need scar-specific treatment such as MNRF, fractional CO₂ laser or subcision, which we also offer — see Acne Scar Treatment.
A consultation fee may apply, depending on the treatment. Please call or WhatsApp us and we will confirm the amount before your visit.
